Welcome to Les Ormes

The historical village of Les Ormes depended on Touraine and was called Les Ormes St Martin until the 17th century. But the Argenson family bought the estate in 1729 and a horse-post was built a few years later. The castle was then a meeting point for noblemen from all over the country who paid a visit to the Marquess of Argenson, assigned to residence by Madame de Pompadour.
The village sheltered huge markets in the 19th century and a railway station. The Argenson family left all their properties in 1977.

What todo, what to see

HERITAGE

Halfway between Paris and Bordeaux, halfway between the Loire valley and the Futuroscope, Les Ormes is the ideal place for a rest or a night stay. You can try our 2-star campsite along the river Vienne or one of the hotels in the heart of the village. Don’t miss the 18th century heritage : the Horse-post, the barn called “la Bergerie” on the main road, the Covered market near the Church ; you can walk along the banks of the river Vienne. You can learn a lot (more) about the history of the Acadians at the Acadian Museum of Falaise, a few kilometres away on the road to Descartes.

We do hope to see you soon in Les Ormes.
